Junior ISBUC Summer Camp 2026
Join us from the 24th to 25th August at Camp Ven for the 2026 Junior ISBUC Summer Camp! The summer camp will be an overnight retreat for junior researchers only. A space where we can share our research, give each other feedback, get career advice from Junior ISBUC alumni and funding advice from peers with grant experience. Hosted on picturesque Hven Island, there will be lots of camp fun too, including beach BBQs and mini-golf in the sun! Places are limited to 30 people and assigned on a first come first serve basis.
In the spirit of the event, we expect all participants to present a flash talk to your peers. The summer camp will be our space to present research to each other in a friendly fun atmosphere. Here, you can receive feedback from peers in other departments, practise for that upcoming conference, discuss problems that you are facing and get inspiration for how to overcome them. The presentations don’t need to be finished and work in progress is fine.
Exceptions will be made for Master's students who would like to attend but do not wish to give a talk. We still highly encourage Master's students to come and present a talk.
If presenting research is not your favourite part of being a scientist, we are happy to announce some good news: Robin Bonne will lead a workshop on confident presenting for scientists at the summer camp. A scientist turned communicator, Robin uses theatre techniques to help researchers improve their presentations and project confidence. The workshop will include body language exercises to help participants look and feel more confident, practical training on using voice, hands, and eye contact effectively, and tips and tricks for leaving presentation nerves behind. As Robin says, “your stage confidence is a muscle you can train,” and because all summer camp participants will have the opportunity to present their own research, ISBUC is delighted to offer this workshop to help you make the most of that experience. Even if presenting already comes naturally to you, join us anyway, as it will be a fun session, and you are likely to pick up useful techniques along the way.
Participation is free. It is possible to cancel your registration up until July 31st by sending an email to lucy.holt@bio.ku.dk However, if you cancel later than July 31st or do not attend, you will be charged a no-show fee of 500 kr.
