About ISBUC

The cluster for Integrated Structural Biology at the University of Copenhagen (ISBUC) promotes an integrated approach to structural biology at the University of Copenhagen. It is constituted by over 50 principal investigators and 100 junior researchers who are spread across 16 different departments in the Faculty of Science and the Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences.

Steering Committee

ISBUC's Strategic Vision

The overall mission of ISBUC is to strengthen integrative structural biology at the University of Copenhagen.

ISBUC promotes boundary-pushing integrative approaches to structural biology research, which raises the standard of excellence at UCPH and increases its internationalization. By fostering interdisciplinary collaboration, there have been multiple new research collaborations, publications and grants, and this has fostered important new scientific insight.

ISBUC is one of the leading initiatives in fostering interdisciplinary collaboration between structural biologists and beyond in different fields, bridging departments and faculties and provides a single cohesive point of contact for structural biologists at UCPH.

Each year, ISBUC releases an annual report as a Letter to the Deans with updates about the most relevant events that took place throughout the year and that involved ISBUC members at the University of Copenhagen.

2023 was a year distinguished by huge investment in structural biology research, infrastructure and staff across the University of Copenhagen.

2021 saw UCPH researchers achieve an extraordinary number of research breakthroughs in structural biology, and ISBUC provided online initiatives for researchers to engage in scientific networking after the pandemic.

In 2022, ISBUC was able to host all three of its flagship meetings for the first time since the pandemic. The year was filled with numerous scientific breakthroughs, large prestigious grants and a string of prominent awards for ISBUC researchers.

COVID-19 pandemic challenged ISBUC's 4th year of existence, but we continued to operate with revamped actions to ensure that the crisis did not overly impact the quality of world-class research and partnership opportunities.
